Export With Images

The standard Odoo export cannot place pictures in a spreadsheet, which frustrates catalogue and product-list reports. This module overrides the XLSX export route so image fields are written as real pictures inside the cells. It works with any list view through the normal Export dialog, so no new menu is needed. Sales, inventory and marketing teams can hand out visual product lists directly from Odoo.

   Open the export dialog

   From any list view the user selects records and chooses Action > Export. The standard dialog lists all exportable fields.

   • Select records first
   • Use the normal Export action

   Choose fields including images

   The user adds the wanted columns, including Binary image fields such as the product image. The export format must be XLSX.

   • Pick image field
   • Choose XLSX format
   • Save as template if needed

   Server builds the workbook

   The overridden /web/export/xlsx route reads the rows and, for image fields, decodes the stored file and inserts it in the cell with the row height adjusted. Non-image fields are written as usual.

   • Images inserted via insert_image
   • Row size is adjusted
   • Other fields unchanged

   Download the workbook

   The browser downloads the Excel file where each record row shows its picture instead of encoded text. The file can be shared as a visual catalogue.
