Overview
In the standard purchase order form the Create Bill button can be hidden or hard to find in some flows. This module adds a highlighted Create Bill button in the header, placed before Cancel, that calls the standard invoice creation. It appears only when the order is confirmed, is waiting to be billed and has order lines. It plugs into the Purchase app and shortens the path from order to vendor bill for purchasing and accounting staff.
Usage steps
- 1
Confirm the purchase order
Create a purchase order in Purchase > Orders and confirm it. The status becomes Purchase Order. The button is not shown for drafts.
- State must be purchase
- Lines required
- 2
Check the invoicing status
The button appears only while the invoice status is "To Invoice", meaning received or ordered quantities are not yet billed. Fully billed orders hide it. This prevents duplicate bills.
- invoice_status = to invoice
- Hidden when fully billed
- 3
Click Create Bill
Press the highlighted "Create Bill" button in the header. It runs the standard action_create_invoice, so taxes and accounts follow standard rules. The vendor bill draft opens.
- Standard invoice creation
- Highlighted button
- 4
Review and post the bill
Check the bill lines and post it in Accounting. The purchase order links to the bill and its status updates. No new data is stored by this module.
