Overview

The standard POS sales details report lists products without grouping them by category. This module extends the sales details report so the printed report shows sold products under their categories. It is used by shop managers and accountants who review daily sales per session or period. It plugs into the Point of Sale app by extending its sales details report model. The benefit is a clearer view of which product categories drive sales.

Usage steps

  1. 1

    Open the sales details report

From the Point of Sale reporting area the user opens the Sales Details wizard and picks the period, sessions or configurations. The wizard is the standard one, and the module changes only what it prints. Orders are read in states paid, invoiced and done.

    • Choose start and end date or sessions
    • Only paid, invoiced and done orders count
  2. 2

    Collect sales per category

The overridden get_sale_details method serialises the orders of the requested period, configurations and sessions. The system adds the product category to each sold line. This grouping is prepared before the template is rendered.

    • Method: get_sale_details
    • Filter by date, config or session
    • Category attached to each product line
  3. 3

    Print products under their category

The report template shows the category name and then, for each product, the internal reference, product name and quantity. The user prints the report as PDF from the wizard. Sales staff can then compare categories at a glance.

    • Columns: internal reference, product, quantity
    • Category name as a heading
  4. 4

Use for session and period review

Managers run the report after closing a session or at the end of a day or month. Because it extends the standard report, all existing filters keep working. No new menu is added, so users find it where they already look.

    • No extra menu or setup
    • Standard filters still apply
