Overview

In a company with several shops, every POS user can normally see all shops and orders. This module lets an administrator choose the allowed POS configurations per user, and record rules enforce it. It is used by administrators and POS managers, and plugs into the Point of Sale app for users, shops and orders. Managers keep access to everything. The benefit is data separation between shops and cashiers.

Usage steps

  1. 1

    Open the user form

The administrator opens a user and finds the POS section added by the module. It holds the list of allowed shops. Only the users concerned need to be edited.

    • Section: POS on the user form
    • Field: Allowed Pos
  2. 2

    Choose allowed shops

The administrator selects one or more POS configurations in the Allowed Pos field and saves. The inverse relation also updates the shop's user list. This assignment is the single source of the restriction.

    • Multi-select of POS configurations
    • Shop shows its POS Users
  3. 3

Control who is shown on the dashboard

Each shop has a Show users of pos option that decides whether its users appear on the POS dashboard for administrators. A computed list of allowed users backs the display. The POS Users section appears on the shop form.

    • Field: Show users of pos
    • Computed allowed users
    • Section: POS Users
  4. 4

    Record rules enforce it

Record rules limit POS users to shops in their allowed list and to orders of those shops. POS managers get an open rule with no filter. So a cashier sees only the allowed shops and their orders.
