Overview
Reporting needs change faster than developers can build screens. This module lets administrators create their own dashboards from the interface, without code. A dashboard is attached to a menu, made of blocks (tiles or charts) that read any model, and styled with colour themes. Managers and analysts use it on top of any installed app. The finished dashboard can also be emailed as a picture to selected users.
Usage steps
- 1
Create a dashboard menu
Under Dashboards > Dashboard Menu the user creates a record with a name, parent menu and the groups allowed to see it. The system creates a client action and a menu entry for it. Kanban and form views list the existing dashboards.
- Fields: Name, Parent Menu, Groups
- Client action created automatically
- Kanban listing
- 2
Define blocks
In Dashboard Blocks the user defines a tile or chart. He picks the model, the measured field, the operation (such as sum or count), the group-by, and the type of graph. Icon, width and height set how it looks.
- Fields: Model, Measured Field, Operation
- Types: tile or chart
- X and Y axes
- 3
Filter block data
A block can carry a domain filter so it counts only matching records. The module converts the domain to SQL for fast reads. This keeps tiles accurate on large tables.
- Domain filter per block
- Converted to SQL
- Group-by field
- 4
Arrange the layout
The user opens the dashboard and switches to edit mode. Blocks are dragged and resized on the grid, and the positions are stored on each block. Leaving edit mode saves the layout for everyone allowed to see it.
- Drag and resize
- Positions saved on blocks
- Edit mode toggle
- 5
Choose a colour theme
Under Configuration > Dashboard Theme the user manages gradient themes with three colours. Default themes are loaded with the module. A theme is applied to a dashboard to change its look.
- Colour X, Y, Z
- Default themes included
- List and form views
- 6
Search and drill into charts
A search route feeds chart inputs so users can filter chart data on screen. Clicking a tile opens the underlying records. This turns the dashboard into an entry point to the data.
- Route: search_input_chart
- Click-through to records
- Live figures
- 7
Email the dashboard
A Send wizard lets the user pick recipients. The dashboard image is captured and attached to an email. Users receive a snapshot without opening Odoo.
- Button: SEND
- Field: Users
- Button: Cancel
