Overview
Adding a field normally needs a developer and a module update. This module gives administrators a screen to create real fields on any model and place them in forms and lists. It works on top of the standard technical field model, so fields are stored, searchable and reportable. It is meant for business owners and functional consultants who need quick adjustments. Access to each new field can be limited by groups.
Usage steps
- 1
Open Create Fields
The user opens the All in One Custom Dynamic Fields menu and then Create Fields. A list of previously defined fields shows their status. New definitions start as drafts.
- Menu: Create Fields
- Status column
- List and form views
- 2
Choose model and type
The user picks the target model, the field label and the field type. Relational fields ask for the related model and selection fields ask for the options. A widget can be chosen to control how the field is displayed.
- Fields: Model, Field Type, Widget
- Relational and Selection Options
- Widget library included
- 3
Position in form views
The user selects an existing field and a position (before or after) in the form view. Extra properties such as required can be toggled. The module builds an inherited view with the new field.
- Position: before / after
- Extra properties
- Form View IDs
- 4
Add to list views
Using Create to Tree View the field is also added to list views of the same model. The user picks which list views receive it. This gives the same column in tables and forms.
- Action: create to tree view
- Select list views
- Same field everywhere
- 5
Generate the field
Pressing Create Field generates the real technical field on the model and marks it as dynamic. The status changes and the field is usable right away. Access groups can limit who sees it.
- Button: Create Field
- Field marked Dynamic Field
- Groups restrict access
