Block Negative POS Sales

Cashiers can sell items that are not really in stock, which creates negative quantities. This module blocks a POS sale when the quantity exceeds what is available. The manager chooses in the POS configuration whether stock is checked by warehouse or by operation type. Products can be marked as allowed to go negative and selected employees can bypass the block. It works with the Point of Sale and Inventory apps.

   Choose the check source

   In POS settings the manager selects the quantity source for the check: Warehouse or Operation Type. The value is stored on the POS configuration. It decides which stock figure is compared.

   Sell at the till

   The cashier adds products to the order as usual. The system compares the ordered quantity with the available one. Everything works normally while stock is sufficient.

   Block the sale

   When the quantity is above what is available, the sale is blocked with a message. The cashier must reduce the quantity or remove the line. Stock is never pushed below zero by mistake.

   Allow specific products

   On the product form a checkbox Allow Negative POS lets a product be sold beyond stock. It suits services or made-to-order items. Other products remain checked.

   Let employees bypass

   On the employee form a flag lets an employee bypass the negative quantity block. Managers can then override at the till. Everyone else stays blocked.
