Overview
Confirming orders without stock leads to delays and negative inventory. This module checks the quantities on a sales order against free stock when it is confirmed. If products are short, the confirmation is refused and a message lists them. A product checkbox allows negative sales and a group lets selected users override. It works with the Sales and Inventory apps.
Usage steps
- 1
Check quantities on the order
The module totals the quantity of each product across all lines. It compares the total with the free quantity today. Only stockable products are checked.
- Totals across lines
- Free quantity today
- Stockable products only
- 2
Flag insufficient products
A computed flag shows whether the order has negative quantities. The list of products and their available amounts is prepared for the message. The order form uses the flag on the Confirm button.
- Field: has_negative_qty
- Insufficient product list
- Uses Confirm button
- 3
Refuse the confirmation
Pressing Confirm with a shortage raises an error that names each product and its free quantity. The order stays a quotation. The salesperson adjusts quantities or waits for stock.
- Button: Confirm
- Error lists products
- Order stays quotation
- 4
Allow per product
A checkbox on the product form allows negative sales for that item. Services and made-to-order goods use it. Those products are ignored by the check.
- Field: allow_negative_sale
- Per-product exception
- Ignored by the check
- 5
Let a group override
Users in the allow-negative-sale group can confirm orders even when stock is short. This is for managers who accept the risk. Others remain blocked.
- Group: allow negative sale
- Manager override
- Others blocked
