Notification Sound

Users who work in several browser tabs often miss the small notification banners Odoo shows. This module adds a sound cue to the web client so the message is noticed immediately. It is a front-end asset module that depends only on the base and web apps, so it works with any app that raises notifications. The benefit is faster reaction to messages, reminders and warnings without changing any business data.

   Install and load the assets

   After installation the module registers its OWL template and script in the web client assets. No menu or configuration screen is added. The assets load the next time the browser page is refreshed.

   Detect a new notification

   When Odoo raises a notification in the interface, the module hooks into the notification display. The hook runs on the client side, so nothing is stored in the database. The user keeps working as usual.

   Play the sound alert

   A short sound is played through the browser together with the visual notification. This lets the user notice the message even when the Odoo tab is in the background. The sound follows the browser audio permissions.

   Use it across apps

   Because the sound is tied to the generic notification service, chatter, reminders and warnings from other apps also trigger it. Users do not need to enable anything per app. Uninstalling the module simply removes the sound.
