POS Discount Amount

Cashiers often need to give a quick discount at the till without editing every order line. This module adds a Discount Amount button to the POS screen and stores the default amount and discount product on each POS configuration. It extends the Point of Sale app and its settings page. The benefit is a controlled, repeatable discount that posts as its own order line and is easy to audit.

   Enable order discounts

   In Point of Sale settings the manager turns on the Order Discounts option for a configuration. The flag is stored on pos.config as iface_discount_amount. Only configurations with the flag show the new button.

   Choose the discount product

   The manager selects a Discount Product in the same settings block. The product is used to create the discount line on orders. If none is set the system raises an error asking the user to configure it under Point of Sale settings.

   Set the default discount amount

   A default Discount Amount is entered in the settings and copied to the POS configuration. It is offered as the starting value when the cashier presses the button. The cashier can still change it in the popup.

   Apply the discount at the till

   During a POS session the cashier presses the Discount Amount button on the order screen. A popup asks for the amount and the module adds a negative order line using the discount product. The order total drops by that amount.
