Overview
HR needs to remember birthdays, contract ends and other dates that live in different models. This module lets HR define a reminder by choosing a model, a date field and a period. It adds a reminder menu to the top bar and a Reminders configuration menu. The benefit is that important events surface automatically without building custom reports.
Usage steps
- 1
Open Reminders
HR opens the Reminders menu and presses New. The form has a Title field and the reminder settings. Records are stored on hr.reminder per company.
- Menu: Reminders
- Field: Title
- 2
Choose the model and date field
The user picks a Model and then a Field of type date from ir.model.fields. This decides which records the reminder watches. Any model with a date field can be used.
- Fields: Model, Field
- Any date field
- 3
Set the search rule
The Search By selection offers Today and other date options with Reminder before in days. A date range uses Start Date and End Date, or a fixed Select Date. The rule decides when the record appears.
- Fields: Search By, Reminder before
- Fields: Start Date, End Date, Select Date
- 4
Set the reminder expiry
A Reminder Expiry Date stops the reminder after a date. This avoids old reminders staying forever. A company rule limits it to the user company.
- Field: Reminder Expiry Date
- Company record rule
- 5
See reminders in the topbar
A systray button shows the active reminders for the current user. Opening it lists the matching records with a link. Officers and administrators manage the records, users only read.
