Notify by Email and Inbox

Odoo lets each user choose either email or inbox for notifications, never both, so users miss messages when they are away from the browser. This module adds a third choice, Handle by Emails and Odoo, on the user notification preference. The thread notification method is extended so a message is sent to the inbox and also by email. It depends only on Mail and suits every user who wants both channels.

   Open user preferences

   Open My Profile (preferences) or the user form under Settings. The notification field is the standard one. The module adds one more option to it.

   Select the combined option

   Choose Handle by Emails and Odoo and save. The value email_inbox is stored on the user. The user starts receiving both channels.

   Message is split into two channels

   When a message is posted, the extended notify method finds recipients with the combined preference. It copies each into an inbox recipient and an email recipient. The parent flow is kept for other users.

   Inbox and email delivery

   The inbox part appears in the Odoo discuss inbox with the bell counter. The email part is sent through the outgoing mail server and shows in the mail queue. Both are logged for the message.
