POS Discount Manager Approval

Uncontrolled discounts at the register lead to lost margin. This module adds a Discount Limit to each employee and compares it with the discount on every order line at validation time. If any line exceeds the cashier limit, the sale cannot be finalised until a manager enters an approval PIN. It is used by HR or shop managers to set limits and by cashiers in the POS. It plugs into Point of Sale, the discount feature and Employees.

   Set the employee discount limit

   Open Employees and edit an employee form. The module adds a Discount Limit field next to the job position. Enter the highest discount percentage that this employee may give without approval.

   Load employees into the POS

   At session start the POS loads employee data including the discount limit and the manager role. The cashier logged into the POS is identified, so his own limit is used for checks.

   Give discounts on lines

   The cashier applies discounts to order lines with the standard discount feature. There is no interruption while selling, so the customer is not delayed until payment is validated.

   Validation check

   When the cashier validates the payment, every line discount is compared with his limit. If none exceeds it, the order proceeds normally. If one does, a password popup titled with the employee name appears asking for the manager PIN.

   Manager approval

   The entered PIN is hashed and compared with the PIN of the manager employee. When it matches, the order moves on to the next screen. When it does not, an error popup shows that the approval failed and the order is not finalised.
