Overview
Refunds are a common fraud route at the register. This module protects them with a numeric security code that the cashier must enter before a refund can proceed. The code can be set globally in the settings or per POS configuration. It is used by managers who own the code and by cashiers who need it, and plugs into Point of Sale settings and the ticket screen.
Usage steps
- 1
Set the refund security code
In Point of Sale settings enter a value in the global refund security field, or open a POS configuration and set Refund Security there. Both are whole numbers.
- Field: Refund Security on pos.config
- Global value in settings
- Numeric code
- 2
Load the code in the session
The POS loads the code with its configuration so it can be checked on the device without contacting the server again.
- Loaded at session start
- Checked locally
- 3
Start a refund
On the ticket screen the cashier selects an order and presses the refund action. A password popup appears before the refund lines are prepared.
- Popup opens on refund
- Ticket screen is the entry point
- 4
Validate the password
The entered number is compared with the configured code. If it matches, the refund continues normally.
- Match allows the refund
- Input is a number
- 5
Wrong password
If the value does not match, an error popup says Invalid Password and asks for the global password. The refund is not created.
- Error popup shown
- No refund created
