Product Approval

Uncontrolled product creation leads to duplicated or wrong items on quotations. This module adds an approval state to every product, starting as Draft, and lets product managers confirm or reset it. Sale order lines only accept confirmed products. It is used by product managers and salespeople and plugs into the Sales app and the product form and list.

   Create a product as draft

   Create a product from Sales or Inventory. The new State field defaults to Draft, shown in the product form status bar.

   • Field: State (Draft/Confirmed)
   • Default is Draft

   Confirm the product

   A user in the Product Manager group presses Confirm on the product form. The state becomes Confirmed and the product becomes available for sale.

   • Button: Confirm
   • Restricted to Product Manager group

   Reset to draft

   The Reset To Draft button returns a confirmed product to Draft when it needs review again, which removes it from the sale order product choices.

   • Button: Reset To Draft
   • Product hidden from sales again

   Bulk confirmation

   In the product list select several records and run the Confirm server action to approve them together.

   Filter and group by status

   The product search view adds a Status group-by and a filter for Draft and Confirmed products so managers see what is waiting.

   Sale order line control

   On a sale order the product field of each line uses a domain that accepts only confirmed products, so draft ones cannot be added or confirmed.
