Approvals Base

Business documents often need sign-off from managers before an action happens. This module extends the Approvals app with approval rules that bind a model and a method to an approval category. Records that use the approvals mixin show Request Approvals buttons and lock until approved. It is used by administrators to define rules and by managers to approve, and plugs into Approvals and Automation.

   Configure the approval category

   Open an approval category. The Automation group adds Automatic Confirmation, notification options and groups or partners to notify on approval. Approvers can be users or groups.

   Define approval rules

   Under Approvals > Approval Rules add an editable row with a name, category, model and method. Only models that use the approvals mixin are allowed.

   Validation of rules

   The system checks that the model supports approvals and that the method exists, and refuses inconsistent rules with a clear error.

   • Unsupported model raises an error

   Request approvals from a record

   A Request Approvals button appears on the record. It creates approval requests linked to the record, and a smart button shows their count.

   Approve or refuse

   Approvers review requests from Approvals to Review and approve or refuse. Manager approval checks the employee manager link.

   Open the source record

   The request form shows a Record button to open the document that raised it.

   Bypass for super users

   Users in the Super group can bypass approval on any record. Administrators are added to that group automatically.
