Overview
Some operations should never consume stock that does not exist. This module adds blocking rules to Inventory and Manufacturing. Operation types can block validation, and company settings can block scrap and unbuild. Forms show the on hand quantity next to the demanded one and warning wizards explain a block. It plugs into Inventory, Sales and Manufacturing.
Usage steps
- 1
Enable blocking in settings
In Inventory settings tick Block Scrap and Block Unbuild. These are company wide options.
- Block Insufficient Scrap
- Block Insufficient Unbuild
- 2
Block by operation type
On an operation type tick Block Validation. Pickings of this type cannot be validated when a line demands more than available.
- Field: Block Validation
- Per operation type
- 3
On hand quantity on moves
Stock moves and pickings show an On Hand Quantity value and a flag when the demand exceeds it.
- Computed On Hand Quantity
- Negative quantity indicator
- 4
Validate a transfer
Validating a blocking picking with insufficient stock is stopped and negative lines are indicated.
- Blocked on negative quantity
- Message on the form
- 5
Scrap orders
Validating a scrap with the company block on opens a warning wizard instead of scrapping when stock is short.
- Button: Scrap
- Warning wizard
- 6
Unbuild orders
Unbuild validation follows the same rule and opens a warning wizard when quantities are insufficient.
- Button: Unbuild
- Warning wizard
- 7
Manufacturing orders
Manufacturing orders show the on hand quantity and refuse to proceed when it is less than the quantity needed.
- On hand versus quantity
- Error when insufficient
