Overview
Cashiers can accidentally sell on account to customers who already owe too much. This module checks the customer credit standing at the POS payment screen and stops a credit payment that would exceed the limit. It reuses the credit limit configuration of the sales credit limit module and the settle-due feature. It plugs into Point of Sale, Contacts and Accounting and protects the cashier from bad debt.
Usage steps
- 1
Set the credit limit
The customer credit limit is configured on the partner using the credit limit dependency. The POS reads it together with the amount due.
- Limit on the partner
- Due amount from accounting
- 2
Select the customer
The cashier selects a customer on the order. Sales to anonymous customers are not affected by the check.
- Customer required for the check
- Partner info is loaded
- 3
Pay on credit
On the payment screen the cashier chooses a payment method that splits transactions, i.e. customer account.
- Payment methods with split transactions
- Amount compared to limit
- 4
Validation check
When validating the order, the module checks whether the partner is overdue and uses a limit before letting the standard validation continue.
- Checks overdue and limit flags
- Standard validation continues if clear
- 5
Warning popup
If the limit is reached, an error popup titled Credit Limit Exceeded names the customer and asks for another payment method or an administrator bypass.
- Title: Credit Limit Exceeded
- Payment is stopped
