Overview
Large uploads fill storage and slow the server. This module lets an administrator set a general attachment size limit and override it per user, in MB or KB. The effective limit is sent to the web client at session start so oversized files are refused with an error. It is used by administrators and applies to every user who attaches files.
Usage steps
- 1
Set the general limit
In Settings enable the general attachment limit, enter a size and choose the unit MB or KB.
- Enable Attachment Size Limitation
- Attachment Size Limit
- Unit: MB or KB
- 2
Validate the value
The system requires the size to be positive and shows a validation error otherwise.
- Positive number only
- Constraint on settings and users
- 3
Set per-user limits
Open a user form and set the attachment size limit and unit for that user. This overrides the general limit.
- Attachment Size Limit on user
- Unit on user
- Overrides general limit
- 4
Effective limit at login
When the session starts the server computes the limit in bytes, user value first then general value, and adds it to the session information.
- User value has priority
- Stored in session info
- 5
Upload a file
When a user attaches a file larger than the limit in any form or chatter, the upload is refused with an error message.
- Error on oversized file
- Smaller files upload normally
