Remove Studio Fields

Custom fields created with Odoo Studio are normally hard to clean up once they are no longer needed. This module adds a wizard where an administrator selects the unwanted Studio fields and removes them in one action. It targets database administrators and functional consultants who maintain a Studio-customised database. It works on the technical fields registry of Odoo and so plugs into any app that was customised with Studio. The benefit is a tidy database without manual technical-menu work.

   Open the wizard from the menu

   The administrator opens the Remove Studio Fields menu, which shows a single form wizard. Access is limited to the Administrator group of the module. Nothing is deleted until the button is pressed.

   Select the fields to remove

   In the field_ids tags box the user picks the Studio-created fields to delete. The selection is limited to custom fields so that standard fields are not offered. The user can review the chosen tags before confirming.

   Run the removal

   Pressing Remove Fields calls the wizard action that deletes the selected fields from the model registry. The system processes each field in turn. Fields that cannot be deleted are reported rather than silently skipped.

   Handle errors and dependencies

   When a field is still used by a view or another field, the wizard raises an error message listing the problem instead of breaking the database. The administrator fixes the dependency and runs the wizard again. The Cancel button closes the wizard with no change.
