Smart Alerts

This module lets an administrator define alert banners that appear at the top of a form for any Odoo model when a condition is met. Each alert has a message, a colour type, a target model, a view, an optional group and a domain filter. The system builds an inherited view when the alert is applied. It plugs into any app and is used by administrators and functional consultants to warn users, for example about a blocked customer, without writing code.

   Create an alert

   From Smart Alerts > Alerts the administrator creates a record with a name and the alert message text. The alert starts in Draft. The form has a status bar showing the alert state.

   Choose the model, view and colour type

   The user selects the document type (model), the form view to extend and the alert style such as primary or other Bootstrap alert colours. The alert can be limited to a security group so that only those users see it.

   Set the condition on the Filters tab

   In the Filters tab the user builds a domain that defines when the alert shows, for example a customer flag or a status value. Records that do not match the filter do not show the banner.

   Apply the alert

   Pressing Apply creates a new inherited view linked in the New View field and moves the alert to the applied state. If the domain cannot be turned into a view, a Can't create a view based on this domain error is shown.

   Cancel or reset an alert

   Cancel removes the generated view and stops the banner. Reset to Draft lets the administrator edit and apply again. Users in the User group only see the alerts; administrators manage them.
