Overview

This module limits what each user sees in Inventory based on the warehouses they are allowed to work in. Each warehouse gets an Allowed Users list, and locations, operation types, transfers, scraps, reorder rules and stock quants inherit that visibility through a shared mixin. It plugs into the Inventory app and is meant for companies with several warehouses and separate teams. The benefit is that storekeepers only see and operate on their own warehouse data.

Usage steps

  1. 1

Set allowed users on a warehouse

In the warehouse form the administrator fills the Allowed Users tags field, which only system administrators see. Users listed there can access that warehouse's records. Other users lose visibility of them.

    • Field: Allowed Users on the warehouse
    • Visible to administrators
    • Drives all other rules
  2. 2

    Locations follow their warehouse

Stock locations compute their allowed users from the warehouse they belong to and show them as tags. A user sees only the locations of permitted warehouses. This keeps location pickers short and relevant.

    • Computed from warehouse
    • Allowed Users shown as tags
    • Shorter location lists
  3. 3

    Operation types and transfers

Operation types and transfers (receipts, deliveries, internal moves) inherit the allowed users of their warehouse and store them for fast record-rule checks. The field is visible on the picking form in technical mode. Users only see transfers from their own warehouses.

    • Computed and stored user list
    • Technical-mode field on the picking
    • Own-warehouse transfers only
  4. 4

    Scrap and reordering rules

Scrap orders and reordering rules follow the same mixin, and their default location and warehouse are computed with the permitted list in mind. Allowed location domains are limited to the user's warehouses.

    • Scrap uses the same mixin
    • Orderpoint domains limited
    • Defaults respect permissions
  5. 5

    Inventory quantities by permitted user

The inventory quant view is overridden so opening Inventory adjustments shows only the stock in permitted locations. Storekeepers can count their own stock without seeing others.

    • Quant view restricted
    • Own locations only
    • Safe inventory counts
