Extra Social Media

This module adds a website building block that shows extra social media icons beyond the standard Odoo set. The website administrator enters the account links in the general settings, and the snippet displays icons for the ones that are filled. It plugs into the Website app and its drag-and-drop editor. Marketing teams use it to link to networks such as YouTube, Pinterest or Snapchat. The benefit is a richer social presence without custom HTML.

   Enter the social links in settings

   In the website settings the administrator fills the link fields for the extra networks: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp number, Instagram, GitHub, YouTube, Google Plus, Snapchat, Flickr, Quora, Pinterest, Dribbble and Tumblr. Blank fields are ignored.

   Drop the snippet on a page

   In the website editor the designer drags the Extra Social Media block into a page, such as the footer or a contact page. The block is available in the snippets panel. It can be placed several times.

   Icons render from the saved links

   A controller supplies the saved links and a front-end widget renders one icon per filled field. Each icon opens the account in a new tab. Removing a link from the settings removes its icon.

   Update links later

   The marketing team edits the links in settings whenever an account changes. All placed snippets update because they read the same settings. No page editing is needed.
