Web Notifications Lite

This module lets managers publish announcements inside Odoo as pop-up messages or a scrolling breaking-news banner. A notification has a message, an audience (all users or selected users), an optional template and, for breaking news, colours, font size, moving text and an expiry time. Users see them in a systray bell and can mark them as read, and the sender sees who read them. It plugs into the Odoo web client. The benefit is company-wide communication without email.

   Grant the manager right

   A security group and a user flag Allowed to manage web notifications control who can create announcements. The manager menu appears only for them. All other users only receive notifications.

   Create notification templates

   In Configuration > Templates the manager saves reusable messages with a name and text. A template can be chosen on a notification to fill the message quickly. This speeds up recurring announcements.

   Compose a notification

   The form has a General Information tab with name, type (Pop-Up or Breaking News), audience, template and message. Audience is all users or a selected list. Pop-Up and Breaking News tabs hold the display settings.

   Style the breaking-news banner

   For breaking news the manager sets background colour, font colour, font size in pixels, whether the text moves and its direction, and an expiry date and time. The banner disappears automatically after expiry.

   Publish and manage the lifecycle

   The status bar runs Draft, In Progress and Finish with buttons to submit, set to draft, set in progress, finish and cancel. Filters separate Draft, In Progress, Finish, Pop-Up and Breaking News. A delete button removes old notifications after confirmation.

   Users read and dismiss

   Users see a bell icon with a counter in the systray, a pop-up card or the banner. They can mark a notification as read or dismiss it. The Read By tab on the notification lists each user and read time.
