Overview

Online shops in cash-based markets need a controlled cash on delivery option. This module adds a COD payment provider with minimum and maximum order amounts, delivery fees, allowed states and zip codes, and per-product availability. Customers choose COD at checkout and staff track each collection until it is confirmed and printed. It integrates with Website, Sales, Payment and Accounting.

Usage steps

  1. 1

    Configure COD rules

In the COD configuration record the admin sets minimum and maximum order amount, alert and unavailable messages, policy text and expected delivery interval. Allowed states and zip codes limit where COD is offered.

    • min_amt and max_amt
    • cod_state and cod_zip
    • Excluded products
  2. 2

    Enable per product

Each product template has an Allow Cash on Delivery flag and a computed delivery fee. Products can also be excluded in the configuration.

    • cod_available flag
    • delivery_fees computed
  3. 3

    Customer pays at checkout

At the payment step the COD provider appears if the cart amount, address and products qualify. Otherwise an unavailable message is shown to the customer.

    • Amount range check
    • State and zip check
    • Fees added to order
  4. 4

    Create the collection

The transaction creates a COD collection with order and amount data and sends a notification email. It appears under COD Payment Collections.

    • Email template
    • Collections menu
  5. 5

    Confirm and complete

Staff use the Confirm, Done and Cancel buttons to move a collection through its states. Done marks the cash as collected and updates the order.

    • Confirm
    • Done
    • Cancel
  6. 6

    Register the payment

Registering payment on the related invoice is extended to handle COD orders. This keeps accounting consistent with the collection.

    • Invoice payment hook
    • Order marked COD
  7. 7

    Print collection report

A QWeb PDF report is available on collections to print the COD details. It can be handed to the delivery agent.

    • Custom paper format
