StateLaw offices need one place to follow each case from registration to outcome. This module manages cases with clients, lawyers, courts, judges, victims, sittings, evidence and trials, and moves each case through draft, in progress, invoiced, won, lost, rejected or cancelled. Trial and full-settlement wizards create invoices in Accounting, and lawyers are employees in HR. Clients can also submit and view cases from the website portal.
Under Master Data define case categories and courts with their judge. Mark employees as lawyers with wage per trial and per case, and mark partners as judges.
Under Operations > Register Case create a case with client, lawyer, junior lawyer, court, payment method and dates. A sequence number is assigned and lawyer availability is validated.
Use Confirm to start the case, moving it to in progress, or Reject to close it. Cancel and reset to draft are also available.
Add sitting lines with date, details, contact and a done flag. They record the calendar of hearings for the case.
From the case use the Evidence button or the Evidence menu to record items with description, in-favor party and attachments. The count of attachments is computed and printable.
Create trials with date, court, judge and an HTML description under the Trial menu or the case button. Each trial has a sequence and an invoiced flag.
The Create Invoice wizard bills selected trials or a cost, while Full Settlement bills the whole amount. Both create an invoice in Accounting linked by case reference and can print it.
QWeb reports print case registration, case details, trials and evidence. They are bound to the relevant records.
Clients can register a case from a website form and list their cases in the portal home. A thanks page confirms submission.
