Sales Access Control

Sales staff often should quote but not change agreed prices, and cost and margin are confidential. This module lets the administrator pick, per company, the users who may edit sale prices, the users who may see cost on order lines and the users who may see the margin. It extends Sales and Sales Margin and hides or locks the fields on the sales order form for everyone else. Pricing discipline and margin privacy are enforced by user, without creating new security groups.

   Choose who edits prices

   In the settings a field called Who Can Edit Sales Prices takes a list of users. Only those users can change the unit price on a sales order line. Others see the price read-only.

   Choose who sees cost

   The field Who Can View Cost on Sales Order Lines lists the users allowed to see the purchase cost of each line. For all other users the cost column is hidden. This protects supplier prices from the sales floor.

   Choose who sees margin

   The field Who Can View Sales Margin lists the users who may see margin on lines and on the order total. The margin block is hidden for everyone else. Managers usually receive this right alone.

   Computed access on the order

   Each sales order computes three flags for the current user: can edit price, can view cost and can view margin. The flags are recalculated from the company lists. The form uses them to make fields read-only or invisible.

   Sales order form behaviour

   In the sales order form the price and cost fields are conditioned by the flags. A restricted salesperson still creates and confirms orders but cannot alter the price or see the margin. Nothing else in the sales workflow changes.
