Warehouse and Location Display Names

In companies with several warehouses, short codes alone or names alone are ambiguous in lists, selectors and reports. This module adds a company option that displays the warehouse as code plus name, and computes a clearer complete name for stock locations that includes the warehouse label. The names are searchable and used in Inventory reports. Warehouse staff pick the right place faster and mistakes in transfers drop.

   Enable the option

   In the settings the administrator switches on Show Warehouse Name Beside Code. The option is stored on the company. When off, Odoo's standard names are shown.

   Warehouse shows code and name

   With the option on, a warehouse is displayed as its code in brackets followed by its name, in selectors, lists and links. The display name is recomputed when the code, name or setting changes. Both the standard and the older name methods are covered.

   Complete location name

   Stock locations get a computed complete display name that includes the warehouse label. The label is derived from the location's company and the warehouse it belongs to. It is stored for search and shown on the location form.

   Search by the new names

   The complete name has its own search method, so typing a warehouse code or name finds all its locations. Name search on warehouses also accepts the combined label. This speeds up picking source and destination locations.

   Names in stock reports

   The stock report templates are extended to print the improved names for warehouses and locations. Printed transfers and reports therefore match what users see on screen. No stock data is altered.
