Overview
Warehouse teams often receive long product lists that must be keyed into a stock picking line by line. This module adds an Import button to the picking that reads an XLS or CSV file and builds the moves automatically. It plugs into the Inventory app and works for receipts, delivery orders and internal transfers. Products can be matched by barcode, code or name, and lot or serial numbers are supported. The main benefit is faster, less error-prone data entry with a downloadable sample to follow.
Usage steps
- 1
Open the import wizard from the picking
On a stock picking form the user clicks the Import button in the header, which opens the Import Picking wizard. The wizard is a pop-up form that carries all import options in one place. This saves typing the moves one by one when a large receipt or delivery arrives.
- Button: Import on the picking form
- Wizard title: Import Picking
- Works for receipts, deliveries and internal transfers
- 2
Choose the file format
In the wizard the user selects whether the source is a CSV file or an XLS file through the Select field, then attaches it in the File field. The system reads the sheet row by row according to the chosen format. A file must be attached, otherwise the wizard stops with a message asking to select a file first.
- Field: Select (CSV File / XLS File)
- Field: File
- Validation: file is mandatory
- 3
Set product matching and locations
The user chooses how products in the file are matched, by Barcode, Code or Name, and picks the picking type with its source and destination locations. The system uses these to find each product and to fill the move locations. If a product cannot be found the import raises a message that the product is not available on the picking.
- Field: Import Product By (Barcode/Code/Name)
- Fields: Picking Type, Source and Destination Location
- Error shown for unknown products
- 4
Download a sample file
A section titled Download Sample XLS and CSV Files lets the user tick Download Sample Files and choose the sample type, then press Download Sample File. The system serves the sample through a download route so the columns match what the importer expects. This avoids format mistakes before the real upload.
- Checkbox: Download Sample Files
- Field: Sample Type (CSV/XLS)
- Button: Download Sample File
- 5
Import the lines with or without lot/serial
Pressing Import creates the stock moves from the sheet, including lot or serial numbers when the file provides them. Dates must follow the YYYY-MM-DD format, otherwise a wrong date format message is shown. The picking then holds the imported lines and can be confirmed with the normal Confirm action.
- Button: Import
- Date format: YYYY-MM-DD
- Lot and serial columns are optional
- 6
Clear imported lines
If the import was wrong the user clicks Clear Line on the picking to remove the imported moves. The picking returns to an empty line list so the file can be corrected and imported again. This keeps the operation repeatable without deleting the whole picking.
- Button: Clear Line
- Then re-import a corrected file
