Overview
Shops that deliver to customers need to record the address, delivery person and time, and collect payment later. This module adds a Home Delivery button in the POS and a Home Delivery order model in the back office. Cashiers, dispatchers and delivery staff use it inside the Point of Sale app. It links each delivery order to a POS order, a delivery person and a home-delivery payment method, with chatter tracking. The order moves through New, In Progress, Delivered or Cancelled and can be paid after delivery. The benefit is controlled cash-on-delivery handling.
Usage steps
- 1
Configure home delivery
In POS settings the manager enables Home Delivery on the shop, and marks one payment method or journal as Use as Home Delivery. Only one such method may exist, otherwise an error says a home delivery method is already selected. A Delivery Charge product is loaded from data.
- Setting: Home Delivery
- Journal/payment method: Use as Home Delivery (only one)
- Product: Delivery Charge
- 2
Create the delivery order in the POS
The cashier adds products and presses the Home Delivery button, which opens a popup for customer, address, mobile, delivery person, delivery time and a note. A date-time picker sets the delivery time. Confirming sends the order data to the server.
- Popup: customer, address, mobile, delivery person
- Delivery date and time picker
- Order note
- 3
Review the order in the back office
Under the Home Delivery menu the Delivery Order form shows order number, customer, address, delivery time and person, lines, payments and extra info. The list and search views group by user and delivery person. Notes and status changes are logged in the chatter.
- Menu: Home Delivery
- Tabs: Products, Payments, Extra Info
- Group by user and delivery person
- 4
Move the order through its statuses
Buttons on the form drive the flow: In Progress from New, Delivered from In Progress, Cancel from any open state and Set To New from Cancelled. The status bar shows the current state. Only new or cancelled orders can be deleted.
- Buttons: In Progress, Delivered, Cancel, Set To New
- Delete allowed only when New or Cancelled
- 5
Collect payment after delivery
Once delivered, the Make Payment button registers the payment against the linked POS order using the home-delivery journal. The system requires that the POS order was validated from the front end and that a home delivery journal is defined. An already paid order is refused.
- Button: Make Payment
- Errors: no journal defined, already paid, POS order not validated
