Overview
Multilingual databases require translating names and descriptions record by record. This module translates translatable fields into chosen languages through an external service, one record from the translation dialog or many through bulk actions. It tracks progress, token cost and errors in translation jobs processed by scheduled actions. It relies on the toolkit connection module.
Usage steps
- 1
Configure translatable models
In Translation Settings choose the models to translate, or enable all translatable models at once and review their translatable fields. Each config creates a server action on that model.
- One config per model
- Translatable fields list
- Enable all models
- 2
Translate a single record
In the field translation dialog an auto-translate option sends the text to the service and fills the other languages. Only valid non-empty values are sent.
- Dialog button
- Sanitized text
- 3
Bulk translate from list
Select records in a list and run the bulk translate action to open the wizard. Choose base language, target languages and fields, then click Translate.
- Base language
- Target languages
- Fields to translate
- 4
Background processing
Scheduled actions send pending records to the service and retrieve completed tasks. Records move between pending, processing, done and error.
- Cron send and retrieve
- Status per record
- 5
Monitor progress
Under Toolkit > Bulk translations the form shows status, progress and token cost. Past translations lists finished jobs with counts.
- progress
- token_cost
- translation_count

Retry or revert
Errors can be retried with Retry translation, and a translation can be reverted. Open record jumps to the translated record.
