Export Records with Images to Excel

The standard export produces text data only, so product photos and other image fields are lost when a list is exported. This module extends the built-in Excel export controller so image fields are embedded in the generated spreadsheet. A single setting decides whether users are allowed to do this. It works on any list view that has image fields and is useful for catalogues, staff sheets and asset lists. Administrators keep control because the option is off unless enabled.

   Enable the option in Settings

   Open Settings > General Settings and tick "Allow users to export image data in XLS/XLSX files". Save the settings to apply it. Until this is ticked the export behaves exactly like the standard one.

   Select records in a list

   Open any list view, for example products, and select the records to export. The list must contain at least one image field. Use the usual Actions > Export entry.

   Choose the fields including images

   In the export dialog add the image field along with the other columns, and choose the XLSX format. The dialog is the standard one, so no new training is needed. The image column is recognised by its field type.

   Download the workbook

   Press Export to download the workbook. The extended controller embeds the image data in the cell instead of leaving it blank. The file opens in Excel with pictures next to the records.
