Translated Terms Screen

Since Odoo dropped the translation table, field labels and view text live in database columns while Python and JavaScript strings live in module .po files, leaving translators without one place to work. This module restores a single searchable list of all of them, editable in place, with a find-and-replace wizard and an export that writes the module .po file. It only reads and writes translation values and touches no accounting, stock or security data. Translators and administrators can localise a whole system, in Arabic or any language, much faster.

   Load terms into the list

   Under Translations, Load Terms the administrator picks a language and loads terms from selected modules or from the records of one model, optionally including Python and JavaScript strings and limiting to the first N records. The loaded rows appear in the Translated Terms list. Only system administrators can use the screen.

   Search and filter terms

   The Translated Terms list shows language, module, kind, location, source text and translation. Filters separate translated from not yet translated rows and kinds such as field or data, view or HTML text, and Python or JavaScript. The search finds a word in the source or in the translation.

   Edit the translation in place

   The user types the translation in the list and saves the row. Database terms are written into their JSONB values and code terms into the module's .po file. A term stored in a file is flagged.

   Apply to similar terms

   Each row shows how many other places share the same source text. The Apply everywhere button copies the translation to all of them at once. The Open the record button jumps to the record that owns the term.

   Find and replace across a selection

   From the selected rows the Find and Replace wizard asks for the text to find, the replacement, the match mode and case sensitivity, and searches the source or the translation. A preview states how many rows will change and shows what will change. Replace applies it.

   Save the translations to the module

   Under Save to Module the user chooses the language and modules and the target. The export writes i18n/<language>.po through Odoo's own exporter, or offers a download. The translation then ships with the module to the next installation.
