Overview
This connector lets users open a WhatsApp conversation with a customer straight from an Odoo record. It adds Send by Whatsapp buttons to sale orders and invoices, message templates, a simple compose window, and WhatsApp sharing in the portal share dialog. It also adds a mail composer and website contact icons that use a configured mobile number. Sales and accounting staff use it to reduce copy-paste and speed up customer contact.
Usage steps
- 1
Define message templates
Under Whatsapp Message Templates the administrator creates templates with a name and message text. These templates can then be chosen when sending. The default company message is also editable in the company form and the settings. Templates keep messages consistent across the team.
- Create templates with name and message
- Edit the default company message
- Choose a template when sending
- 2
Send a sale order or invoice by WhatsApp
On a sale order or an invoice the user clicks Send by Whatsapp, and the compose wizard opens with the partner, mobile number, message and optional image already filled. Multiple records can be sent from the list through a multi-send action. The message is opened in WhatsApp for the user to send. The partner's mobile number is required.
- Click Send by Whatsapp
- Review partner, mobile and message
- Multi-send from the list
- 3
Compose the WhatsApp message
In the Send Message window the user can edit the mobile number and the text and attach an image, then press Send. The default text comes from the company message or the chosen template. Nothing is stored except the wizard. Cancel closes without sending.
- Edit mobile and text
- Attach an image
- Send or Cancel
- 4
Send email with the mail composer
A companion mail composer opens with sender, recipients, cc, subject, body and attachments, and Send emails the message. It is reachable from the mail icon added by the module. It gives a quick way to send from a record without the full chatter composer. Attachments are chosen on the Attachments tab.
- Fill recipients, subject and body
- Attach files on the Attachments tab
- Send
- 5
Share portal links through WhatsApp
The portal share dialog gains a WhatsApp share type with a mobile number and partner. Choosing it and pressing Send opens WhatsApp with the portal link, letting customers open the document online. This works for documents that support portal sharing. The email option remains available.
- Choose the WhatsApp share type
- Enter mobile number or partner
- Send the portal link
- 6
Website contact icons
The website form stores a mobile number, and frontend icons for WhatsApp and mail let visitors contact the company directly. Public routes return the configured message and number to the scripts. The administrator sets the number on the website record. Visitors are taken to WhatsApp with the message ready.
- Set the mobile number on the website
- Icons appear on the frontend
- Visitors open WhatsApp with the message
